Striking out

Kalian Sams, a Dutch baseball talent, was scouted at 19 and flown to America to join the Seattle Mariners. His skill impressed coaches immediately, and he quickly secured a spot on their top team. But for Kalian, the pressure of competing among the world’s best players soon began to take hold. His perfectionism took over, and fear of failure began to affect his performance, until he struggled so much that he no longer wanted to play at all. In this intimate and vulnerable portrait, Kalian shares his journey to rebuild his mental health, overcome his fear of failure, and reclaim his career. And how he has carried this newfound perspective into the way he raises his children.
