Hi! I’m Marit. A film director based in Amsterdam.
I direct documentaries, fiction, branded films, music videos and dance films. Whether through atmospheric visuals or informative content, my strength lies in listening deeply, finding the core of each story, and translating it into the right creative concept. I also work as a creative producer.
I’m drawn to write and direct personal, sensitive stories. A central theme through my work is connection. I’m interested in human psychology and relationships, human rights, nature and the more-than-human, sustainability, spirituality and the many ways these themes intertwine.
I believe storytelling has the power to inspire positive change, and contribute to a kinder, more inclusive, and sustainable world. That’s why I love collaborating with purpose-driven brands, humanitarian organizations, NGOs, and charities to bring meaningful stories to life.
Based in Amsterdam, I work locally and internationally, with experience in London, Lisbon, and Berlin, as well as directing (remote) projects worldwide. I always strive to combine my research skills with my creative vision to craft impactful visual narratives.
I hold a BA (with Honours) in film directing from the University of the Arts Utrecht, a premaster Humanities and an MA in Arts & Society from Utrecht University. During my studies I also explored anthropology, postcolonial and gender studies and spent a semester at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest.
